Paul Wenner

Paul Wenner created the Gardenburger®, a non-soy vegetarian burger. He developed the original veggie patty in 1981 at his vegetarian restaurant, The Gardenhouse, in Gresham, Ore. Impressed by the overwhelming customer demand for his creation, Wenner began to offer it to other establishments. Eventually, he closed the restaurant and in 1985 founded Gardenburger, Inc. The company went public in 1992, and in 1993 it became the fastest growing publicly traded company in America.

Paul is interested in promoting health for all people and tells how eating meat, poultry, fish and dairy products is terribly harmful to human beings. He is also interested in stamping out cruelty to animals and talks about the unspeakable horrors of American animal husbandry and fishing methods.

Paul is a man with many visions. He is a chef promoting healthy, tasty food for people; he's an environmentalist; an animal rights activist; a principled businessman; and an enthusiastic promoter of health foods.
